Ram Nirikshan Atma Ram College was established in 1968 in Samartha village, Dalsinghsarai Block, under Samastipur Sub-Division of Darbhanga District in Bihar. It was founded with the generous support of the family of Late Pt. Ram Nirikshan Singh, a philanthropist and close friend of the first president of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Initially known as Ram Nirikshan Smarak Mahavidyalaya, the college moved to Samastipur in 1969. Following a generous donation by Late Pt. Atma Ram Mishra, the institution was renamed to its current title.
Over the years, the college has grown significantly, with continued efforts and commitment from the college faculty and staff. The institution is now a well-known and highly respected constituent unit of Lalit Narayan Mithila University (L.N.M.U.) Darbhanga.
